DirecTV Inc. has named Richard Slenker executive vice president, technology and engineering operations.
Slenker had been executive VP, engineering and operations at Fox Television Stations Inc.
In his new role, he will oversee engineering, technology and systems development and integration support for DirecTV operations nationwide.
Slenker has previous direct-broadcast satellite experience, having served as senior VP and chief technology officer for American Sky Broadcasting Inc. -- which was supposed to be News Corp.'s and then-MCI Communications Corp.'s DBS platform and which, at one time, had a deal in place to merge with EchoStar Communications Corp. -- from 1996-97.
