Showtime's Gwen Marcus Speaks At WICT NY Leadership Breakfast

Gwen Marcus, executive vice president and general counsel at Showtime Networks, will share insights from her years in entertainment law at a WICT NY leadership breakfast event on Thursday, Jan. 26.

Marcus, who has been with the premium network for more than 27 years, will discuss her career path, her passion for issues affecting the LGBT community and offer leadership insights as one of cable's top executives. A reservation for the event can be made by clicking this link.

The event takes place from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at Showtime's offices in Manhattan and costs $25 for Women In Cable Telecommunications chapter members, $35 for non-members.

H. Gwen Marcus, in addition to being Showtime Networks' chief legal officer, is an integral member of the company's senior management team. Before joining Showtime, she practiced entertainment law at the New York law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. Among her accolades, Multichannel News in 2009 named her a Wonder Woman. In 2010, Inside Counsel named Marcus the recipient of its First Annual Transformative Leadership Sharing the Power Award for advancing the economic empowerment of women in the law, and featured a profile of her in its January 2011 issue.

Outside of the office, Marcus is a frequent speaker on LGBT-related diversity issues in the workplace and serves on the boards of two not-for-profit corporations, Theatre Development Fund and the LGBT Community Center of New York, which awarded her its Corporate Leader Award in 2006, and elected her coard co-chair in 2009. She has also been honored by other not-for-profit organizations over the years, including POWER UP (Professional Organization of Women in Entertainment Reaching Up, which named her one of the Ten Most Amazing Gay Women in Showbiz), Cable Positive, GMHC, and the YWCA of the City of New York.

WICT NY Leadership Breakfast Series provides personal access to executive leaders in the cable industry within an intimate setting. Speakers highlight their career path and answer questions from the attendees. Previous speakers include Maria Perez-Brown (nuvoTV), Herb Scannell (BBC America), Sam Howe (Time Warner), and Tonia O'Connor (Univision).
