WideOpenWest LLC has become the latest target of the Rev. Al Sharpton's
National Action Network.
The National Association of Black Organizations and the Michigan chapter of
NAN said in a prepared statement Thursday that WOW has ignored the programming
concerns of African Americans by refusing to carry programming services such as
gospel channel The Word Network.
"We are prepared to travel to WideOpenWest headquarters to demonstrate our
concern that WOW must do more than engage in the delay tactics of Mark
Haverkate, president and CEO of WideOpenWest, and Mike Steinkirchner, WOW vice
president of marketing," the Rev. Horace Sheffield III, president of NAN's
Michigan chapter, said in a prepared statement.
