SESAmericom is busy developing its IP PRIME IPTV-content-distribution service, and it has now turned to Siemens Communications subsidiary Myrio for the middleware to oversee applications the service will offer.
The Myrio middleware -- which oversees how applications interact with the system’s core operating system -- is the first selected for the IP PRIME IPTV content-distribution system now in trials with the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative. When launched, IP PRIME will offer telcos and broadband carriers an all-in-one IPTV-delivery system using its array of satellites as the network backbone.
“With Siemens' middleware and NDS' conditional-access and content-protection technology now in place, IP-PRIME will enable IPTV-service providers to deliver a secure and enjoyable viewing experience to consumers nationwide,” SES Americom chief technology officer Alan Young said.

Other elements to the IP PRIME service include Scientific Atlanta’s MPEG-4 encoding system and ROSA Network Management System and design and integration services courtesy of Globalcom.
IP PRIME will be based in a broadcast distribution center in Vernon Valley, N.J.
