Selena Gomez To Produce, Star In New 'Wizards' Special

Disney Channel will reunite the cast of its popular series Wizards of Waverly Place for a one-hour special to premiere in 2013, according to network officials.

Actress/singer Selena Gomez will star and executive produce the special, which will also feature series stars Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera, David DeLuise and Gregg Sulkin, said network officials.

Wizards of Waverly Place was one of Disney Channel's most popular series on cable during its five-year run. The January 2012 series finale of Wizards drew11.3 million total viewers and is TV’s top scripted telecast among Kids 2-11, Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, 2012 to-date.

"With the phenomenal ratings of the Wizards finale earlier this year, it became clear that fans of the series were not ready to say goodbye to Selena or the rest of the Wizards'cast," said Gary Marsh, president and CEO of Disney Channels Worldwide in a statement. "As such, we're thrilled that the cast has agreed to reunite to bring their fans one last grand adventure!"
