SCTE Strikes Collaboration Deal With Germany's ANGA

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers reached an agreement with the ANGA Association of German Cable Operators to mutually promote and support their respective flagship events, the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo and the ANGA Cable Show.

In the future, Cable-Tec Expo and ANGA Cable Show will act as "International Cable Show Partners" to coordinate their individual activities. Each party will "continuously deepen their exchange regarding their conference sessions through such activities as identifying relevant topics and targeting new technologies," the organizations said, including a focus on providing moderators and speakers for the respective technical conference sessions.

"The need for the technical expertise and relationships that SCTE in the United States and ANGA in Europe provide transcends geographic boundaries," SCTE chief technology officer Daniel Howard said in a statement. "We believe that this agreement will benefit the industry worldwide by creating new opportunities for the sharing of technical expertise, innovative approaches, industry best practices and standards development."

Peter Charisse, managing director of the ANGA Cable Show, commented: "The SCTE Cable-Tec Expo with its high technical expertise is the perfect transatlantic partner for our European ANGA Cable Show. We highly appreciate the exchange of knowhow, topics and speakers, as this will surely provide some interesting insights into the goings-on in cable business across the pond and make our congress agenda even more international than ever."

This year's ANGA Cable Show in Cologne in May attracted 420 exhibitors from 37 countries and 16,500 attendees. ANGA Cable Show 2012 will take place June 12-14.

SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2011 is scheduled for Nov. 15-17 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
