SCTE More Than Doubles Cable-Tec Expo Sessions

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers is planning to have more than 70 presentations at the 2011 Cable-Tec Expo in Atlanta this fall, up from 31 last year.

The conference is set for Nov. 15-17 at the Georgia World Congress Center. This year's Cable-Tec Expo will encompass more than 25 topic areas in business services, engineering, technical operations, plant operations and facilities.

SCTE also is offering a Capacity Management Symposium along with select workshops on Monday, Nov. 14, prior the start of its flagship conference. In addition, Cable-Tec Expo will include sessions in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA), Women in Cable Technology (WICT) and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

"Engineering, operations and technology educational sessions are among the most critical components of SCTE Cable-Tec Expo," Terry Cordova, chairman of the program committee for Cable-Tec Expo 2011 and senior vice president and CTO of Suddenlink Communications, said in a statement. "The time, resources and expertise that the program committee and our Expo speakers have already brought to this year's event ensure an agenda that will cover the most critical issues that are on the horizon for the industry."

Among the sessions planned are presentations on the topics of IPv6, IP video transition and multiscreen delivery as part of the Engineering track; and a Business Services track that includes discussion of carrier backhaul, fiber solutions, wireless, advanced advertising and advanced services.

The complete list of workshops is available on the SCTE website.
