Scientific-Atlanta Posts 4Q Profit

Scientific-Atlanta Inc. reported a fiscal fourth-quarter profit of $47.4
million (31 cents per share), compared with $15.7 million (10 cents) for the
same period last year.

Revenue at the set-top vendor increased 3.6% to $404.2 million.

S-A said it shipped 387,000 "Explorer 8000" home-entertainment set-tops
during the fiscal year, including 158,000 during its fourth quarter.

Time Warner Cable and Comcast Corp. placed significant orders for the 8000
during the quarter.

The vendor shipped a total of 197,000 HD set-tops in fiscal-year 2003,
including 58,000 in the fourth quarter. Cumulatively, S-A has shipped more than
300,000 HD set-tops.
