SBC to Offer DSL In Tiers

SBC Communications Inc.'s digital-subscriber-line data customers will be able to choose from a new set of speeds and prices this fall.

The Baby Bell last week said it has retooled its DSL offerings to include five levels of speed. They range from an entry-level package at 384 kilobits per second downstream and 128 kbps upstream, with one dynamic Internet-protocol address, to a high-end package offering 1.5 megabits per second upstream and 6 mbps downstream, with five static IP addresses.

Pricing details will be announced when the service rolls out this fall, SBC said.
