Report: Former Sprint CEO to Run University of Missouri

Two months after resigning as CEO of Sprint Nextel, Gary Forsee is expected to be named president of the University of Missouri.

The official announcement is expected on Thursday, the Associated Press reported.

Forsee, 57, resigned from Sprint on Oct. 8, soon after news broke that the Sprint board of directors was looking to replace him. According to a statement in October from Sprint board member Irvine Hockaday, the decision to seek a new CEO was “based on the board’s belief that it is the right time to put in place new leadership to move the company forward in improving its performance and realizing corporate objectives.”

Prior to joining Sprint in March 2003, Forsee was vice chairman of BellSouth.

Forsee will replace Elson Floyd, who left the prestigious university in April for a job at Washington State University, AP said.
