According to the DSL Forum, digital-subscriber-line services added 25 million subscribers globally in the 12 months ended Sept. 30, reaching a total of 55 million.
The numbers were prepared for the international DSL Forum by telecommunications-analyst firm Point Topic.
Japan has the most DSL customers with 9.2 million, followed by the United States at 8.2 million and China at 7.8 million.
The DSL Forum expects the global total to reach 62 million subscribers by year-end.
