Pioneers Embrace 25 More

Twenty-five industry veterans will add the title of “pioneer” to their resumes when they are honored at the annual Cable Pioneers luncheon at the upcoming National Show.

All have toiled in the industry for a long time, but they’re receiving the honor for their special involvement in cable-related issues, according to the group.

This year’s class includes Matthew Aden, senior vice president, general manager of worldwide sales and customer operations, Broadband Communications Sector, Motorola Inc.; attorneys Paul Glist and (partner) Burt Braverman of Cole Raywid & Braverman; Hawley Chester III, director of sales for Fox Cable Networks Group’s Speed Channel; Patrick Davis of Davis Communications of Kenmore, Wash.; and Steve Friedman, COO of Wave Broadband and a former executive with Summit Communications.

Also named: William Geppert, vice president and general manager, Cox Cable San Diego; William Goodwyn, executive vice president, affiliate sales and marketing for Discovery Networks; Pamela Euler Halling, senior vice president, marketing and programming, Insight Communications; Andrew Healey, senior vice president of operations and technology for cable contractor Mastech; Patsy Judd, executive director of the Kentucky Cable Telecommunications Association; Dennis Mangers, president-elect of the California Cable Telecommunications Association; and Richard McCaffery of LDW Inc, a high-speed data installer/contractor firm.

The group also named Bill McGorry, executive vice president of Multichannel News parent Reed Business Information’s electronic and licensing division; Charles Mills, sales manager at Universal Electronics Inc.; David Pangrac of the engineering consulting firm Pangrac & Associates; Neil Philips, founder and president of manufacturer Signal Vision Inc., Ronald Rizzuto, a Time Warner Cable veteran and professor at the Cable Center’s Daniels College of Business; Edward “Ted” Rogers, CEO of Rogers Communications Inc.; William Ross, president and owner of Zylec Corp.; Larry Stiffelman, senior sales manager of CommScope Inc.; Tele-Communications Inc. veteran Fred Vierra, now with VLG Acquisitions; Carl Vogel, the Charter Communications Inc. CEO; and John Waller III, chairman and founding partner of investment banking firm Waller Capital Corp.
