PerfTech, Active Broadband Team For Bandwidth-Usage Notification

PerfTech, which sells browser-based messaging systems to Internet service providers, is hooking up with Active Broadband Networks for a solution that lets ISPs notify users of their monthly bandwidth consumption.

The joint solution combines Active Broadband Network's systems for broadband network management with PerfTech's Bulletin System communications platform. The idea is to proactively inform customers if they're approaching a monthly limit on bandwidth usage.

"Feedback from ISPs who have deployed usage-based Internet tiers has confirmed that two factors are key to success: accurate usage measurement and quick, proactive notifications," PerfTech vice president of sales Jane Christ said in a statement.

Privately held Active Broadband Networks, founded in 2005 and based in Framingham, Mass., provides network and subscriber data management with policy management enforcement. Comcast is among its cable operators customers.

San Antonio, Texas-based PerfTech says cable operators using its system include WideOpenWest, Oregon's BendBroadband, Ohio's Buckeye CableSystem and TV Cabo in Portugal.
