Bala Cynwyd, Pa.-Pegasus Communications Corp. has agreed to buy one-dozen DirecTV Inc. rural affiliates in the upper Midwest, Texas and Central Plains portions of the country for $100.6 million in cash and stock.

The pending acquisitions serve about 52,000 direct-broadcast satellite customers and pass some 307,000 homes. With the buyouts, Pegasus will own about 85 percent of DirecTV resellers.

With the deal, Pegasus increases its DBS footprint to 1.2 million customers.

The company recently sold off its cable holdings in Puerto Rico with about 55,000 subscribers to Centennial Communications Corp. for $107 million.

Earlier this year, Pegasus purchased DirecTV reseller Golden Sky DBS Inc. for $1 billion in stock and debt.
