Path 1 Network Technologies Inc. and Internet Photonics Inc. are putting
together their respective video-gateway and optical
Ethernet/dense-wave-division-multiplexing platforms for broadband delivery of
high-definition TV signals for the U.S. and international markets.
The companies said cable would be able to cost-effectively extend the life of
legacy asynchronous-serial-interface servers and quadrature-amplitude modulators
by using Path 1's ASI-to-optical Ethernet gateway platforms and IP's Ethernet
and DWDM technologies.
Both companies hope to capitalize on the need for bandwidth by operators
launching robust video-on-demand and HDTV services.
