Jedd Palmer, vice president of programming for EchoStar Communications Corp., has left the company to start his own consulting firm.
Palmer, a former top MSO programming executive at both Tele-Communications Inc. (now AT & T Broadband) and Media-One Group Inc., had been at the direct-broadcast satellite provider for about five months.
"He left for personal reasons," an EchoStar spokeswoman said.
Palmer, who has had some health problems in the past few months, said he has recovered and is feeling well.
According to Palmer, he will now be returning to the kind of consulting work he was doing before he joined Littleton, Colo.-based EchoStar in December. He said his Denver-based firm, Jedd Buss-Palmer Consulting, will be doing consulting on programming distribution and strategic transactions. He added that he plans to work with the content community, mainly content creators.
Palmer's last official day at EchoStar was June 9.
Palmer, a lawyer, was senior vice president of programming at TCI until he left at the end of 1997 to take the same post at Media-One. He left MediaOne in November 1998 after a corporate restructuring took place at the MSO.
Palmer is in the process of changing his name to Buss-Palmer to incorporate his wife's surname.
