Oxygen to Air Summer Sports
Oxygen Sports will offer a block of women's sports programming, including a
new biography-related series, beginning this summer.
The women's network will launch Sports Aside, a new women's biography
series of specials featuring a behind-the-scenes look at several famous female
athletes. The on-the-field and off-the-field lives of such world-renowned
athletes as pole vaulter Stacy Dragila, basketball legend Ann MeyersDrysdaleand race-car driver Lynn St. James will be profiled as part
of the series.
The network premiered the series April 25 with a special on Romanian gymnast
Nadia Comaneci.
Oxygen will also feature coverage of several elite women's sports events this
summer, including the Union Cycliste Internationale World Cup of Mountain
Bike-Cross Country (May 27); the International Triathlon Union Triathlon World
Cup (May 27); the FINA Diving Grand Prix (June 10); the U.S. Open Waterskiing
& Wakeboarding Championships (July 1); the Montreux Volley Masters (July
15); the HP Women's Cycling Challenge (July 29); and the LPGA Canadian Women's
Open (Aug. 18 and 19).
