The Outdoor Channel is taking steps toward launching an HD channel, with help from Sony Electronics Corp.
The network said Wednesday that it has purchased three "HDW-730 HDCAM" camcorders and three "HDW-M2000/1 HDCAM" studio-editing recorders from Sony.
"We’re well on our way to bringing high-definition programming to our audience of loyal outdoor enthusiasts," CEO Andy Dale said in a release.
"Superior programming calls for superior equipment, and we believe we’ve hit the bull’s-eye with Sony," he added.
In other Outdoor Channel news, William A. Owen has joined parent Outdoor Channel Holdings as chief financial officer.
Owen had been an independent consultant at Ascendiant Capital Group.
