OpenTV Buys Ad Traffic Firm

OpenTV Corp. said it acquired little-known cable-advertising-systems vendor CAM Systems LLC for $19.5 million in cash and stock.

CAM, which was founded 10 years ago by The Lenfest Group, sells advertising-traffic systems. Its customers include Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications Inc., Charter Communications Inc. and the New York Interconnect, according to the company’s Web site (

On the programming side, CAM’s customers include College Sports Television, Rainbow Media Holdings LLC, Scripps Networks and Fox News Channel.

OpenTV said the deal will help the interactive-TV firm to provide interactive-advertising products.
