Non-’Dead,’ Non-Sports Highlights of Top 100 Programs

Factoring out AMC’s The Walking Dead (and Talking Dead), as well as big sporting events such as college and pro football, basketball and certain FIFA World Cup matches, there were 41 other entries in the top 100 cable programs of the year. A&E’s Duck Dynasty and HBO’s Game of Thrones each had 10 episodes in the top 100. FX had 10 installments — five apiece for American Horror Story and the final ride of Sons of Anarchy. TNT scored nine times, eight with drama stalwart Rizzoli & Isles and one for Major Crimes. Statue fare — MTV’s Video Music Awards and the BET Awards show, were the only other programs to break into the top 100 during 2014.
