Nick Series Debut Sets Ratings Mark

Nickelodeon's latest animated entrant erased the kids' network's record for a
new series.

The March 22 debut installment of adventure series ChalkZone
registered an 8.6 rating among kids two through 11, topping the 8.5 mark among
that demo scored by the March 2000 premiere of Caitlin's Way.

The half-hour ChalkZone -- chronicling the adventures of
cartoonist-turned-action hero Rudy Tabootie, who discovers that all chalk
drawings live forever behind the blackboard -- averaged 2.8 million kids'
viewers from 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research data.

Gauged on a household basis, ChalkZone chalked up a 2.8 rating and some 4
million total viewers -- records for a Nick series launch, the network
said.
