Hughes Network Systems Tuesday introduced its new "DW6000" terminal for its
"DIRECWAY" broadband-via-satellite service.
The DW6000 is self-hosting, which eliminates the need to install any special
software on customers' PCs and extends the high-speed-data service to Apple
Computer Inc. "Macintosh" PCs, along with Windows-based computers.
The new terminal incorporates an advanced, single-board architecture,
offering an Ethernet output for easy connection to local-area networks and
satellite-based service activation, which eliminates the need for a terrestrial
