NBCU Names Val Boreland To Content Strategy Post

NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment has named Val Boreland as its new executive vice president of content strategy for its entertainment networks.

In the newly created role, Boreland will oversee content scheduling and acquisitions for USA Network, Syfy, Chiller and Cloo and develop strategies to schedule and deploy content across linear, digital and emerging platforms, said NBCU officials.

Boreland was previously Executive Vice President, Head of Programming & Production at Revolt, the music television network she launched with Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2013.

“We are currently in the midst of a dynamic time in our industry, with viewer habits continuing to evolve,” said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, to whom Boreland will report. “As we look at each distinct property and how to launch it, we need to be strategic and tailored about optimizing our content, and Val is uniquely and extensively qualified to successfully launch our networks’ programming across all available platforms.”
