NaviSite Expands In The West
NaviSite, the Time Warner Cable division that provides cloud-based managed apps and services to enterprise customers, opened a new data center Santa Clara, Calif.
The new facility, owned by data center solution provider Digital Realty, becomes one of nine NaviSite data centers located in the across the U.S. and U.K. for business applications and “mission critical data.” In addition to providing dedicated access to TWC’s backbone, the new 3.6MW facility will also support cloud and network services for NaviSite’s customers. NaviSite said ADA-compliant data center also features new structural and seismic upgrades, including a new roof, and is located outside the 100-year flood area. According to the new facility’s fact sheet, it houses redundant Cisco Systems ASR 9000 routers, multiple pairs of Cisco Nexus 7000s for distribution routers, and cloud services supported by Cisco Nexus 7000 Core routers.
“NaviSite has maintained a strong presence on the West Coast for more than a decade with our San Jose data center,” said Sumeet Sabharwal, general manager, NaviSite, in a statement. “The Silicon Valley area is a hot-bed for innovation and the development of the new Santa Clara facility is aimed at enabling the growing demand for our portfolio of cloud-enabled enterprise hosting solutions.”
TWC acquired NaviSite in 2011 in a deal valued at $230 million.
