Las Vegas -- Attendance at this week's National Association of Broadcasters
convention here fell 3 percent, with 89,000 people expected to move through the
turnstiles and pin on badges by Thursday.
Major cable and broadcasting trade shows have suffered declines in recent
years due to recession, an advertising slump, the bursting of the Internet
bubble, war and international terrorism.
NAB spokesman Dennis Wharton said the loss of about 3,000 attendees from 2002
