Starz Encore Group LLC's Encore International has named Steve Smith chief
operating officer and executive vice president.
Smith had been COO at Intertainer Asia.
He will be responsible for overseeing the long-term relationship between EI
and China Central Television, as well as channel development throughout Asia and
in the United States.
Smith will report to EI president and CEO Michelle Sie Whitten and split his
time between EI's headquarters in Denver and its offices in China.
"With his extensive experience in the television business in Asia, we feel
strongly that Steve will play a crucial role in bringing our business to the
next level," Whitten said in a release.
Prior to Intertainer, Smith was managing director of Channel [V] Music
Network.
