Motorola, SCTE Team On Shapp Scholarship

EXTON, PA. - Motorola Broadband Communications Sector
and the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers
(SCTE) said they will offer a $20,000 college scholarship to the child of a cable telecommunications industry employee who is a senior in high school and plans to pursue an engineering degree.

The Milton Jerrold Shapp scholarship is named after the founder of Jerrold Corp., which later became General Instrument Corp. and then merged with Motorola Corp. last year. Shapp also served as governor of Pennsylvania from 1971 to 1979. The scholarship was established in 1996.

To apply, students must have maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale throughout high school. Scholarship applications can be obtained by calling the SCTE at (800) 542-5040 or via electronic mail at membership@scte.org.
