Motorola Inc. has closed on its stock-swap deal to bring fiber-optic
transmission-systems company Synchronous Inc. into its arsenal of products.
Synchronous produces a dense-wave-division-multiplexing 1550-nanometer
transmitter platform and erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, which will be integrated
into Motorola's 'OmniStar GX-2' headend and hub-optics platform.
Motorola said it will continue to support customers who are already using
Synchronous equipment.
Motorola's fiber-optic division will operate out of Horsham, Pa., and
Synchronous' old San Jose, Calif., offices.
