As part of its plan to mix programmatic business models with video distribution, AOL has appointed Marta Martinez to the post of global head of video sales.
Based in New York, Martinez reports to Ran Harnevo, president of AOL Video.
Martinez is taking charge of sales as AOL looks to drive ad growth out of its video initiatives, which include the launch of nearly 50 original series since 2011, including Park Bench With Steve Buscemi, and distribution on 15 connected devices, including the Apple TV.
She joined AOL in February 2013 as head of sales strategy and operations, leading AOL's specialist sales teams in development and packaging of global advertising solutions and guiding the development of sales force effectiveness initiatives. Before that, she was chief marketing officer at MediaMath, and served as SVP, global corporate development at Havas Digital.
“Consumer video engagement is redefining media as we know it. AOL is at the forefront of bringing consumers the videos they want, where they want them and is creating an environment for advertisers to tell their story,” Harnevo said, in a statement . “Marta is a proven leader whose understanding of macro trends in advertising and technology will accelerate AOL's ability to link our consumer platforms to today's leading brands.”
