Damien Thorn, the antichrist character from the 1976 film The Omen as well as its two sequels and subsequent remake, has found a new home on the small screen. Lifetime has ordered six episodes of Damien, a series based on the classic film and featuring an adult version of the Thorn character.
The series is written and executive produced by former Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara, as part of his 44 Strong Productions' overall deal with Fox Television Studios. The Omen film series was distributed by 20th Century Fox.
"We are thrilled to be bringing a contemporary version of The Omen's Damien Thorn back to the screen. Glen Mazzara has re-imagined him as a dark, romantic, anti-hero and this fresh take blends complex characters with premium storytelling to make something truly original," said Rob Sharenow, eecutive vice president and general manager of Lifetime, in a release.
Damien is expected to debut on Lifetime in early 2015. Ross Fineman and Pancho Mansfield will also serve as executive producers alongside Mazzara.
