JDS Uniphase Corp. said Monday that it will acquire privately held Acterna Inc. in a $760 million deal.
Optics-technologies vendor JDS will pay $450 million in cash and $310 million in its own common stock for broadband- and optical-test-and-management-services vendor Acterna, subject to adjustments.
The companies said the transaction is expected to close sometime during the third quarter.
“With the addition of Acterna, we believe our combined portfolio and global-sales channel will improve our ability to serve our customers as they deploy next-generation IP [Internet-protocol] services,” JDS CEO Kevin Kennedy said in a prepared statement.
