Interactive Emmy Nominees Announced
DirecTV Inc., TV Land and Nick at Nite are multiple Emmy Award nominees for their interactive-television applications.
Awards for technology and engineering, nominated by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, will be presented Sept. 29 at Bristol-Meyers Squibb Co. headquarters in Princeton, N.J.
Nominees for outstanding achievement in advanced media technology for the enhancement of original-program content are: DirecTV Inc.’s Sports Mix; TOURCast at PGATour.com (www.pgatour.com); and the 2005 TV Land Awards all-access pass presented by TV Land, Nick at Nite and Zetools Inc.
Nominees in nonsynchronous enhancement" on on-air content are Codename: Kids Next Door --Operation B.E.S.T by Cartoon Network; the DirecTV Interactive Service; ImageGuide/Living.com (www.living.com) by EAT.tv LLC and Scripps Networks; and Comcast Corp.'s free-on-demand service.
The best nontraditional platform or program nominees are the new features for Digeo Inc.'s “Moxi Media Center”; NewTek Inc.'s “TriCaster”; and coverage of the 2004 elections by EchoStar Communications Corp.
Some of the same productions are nominees for the Interactive TV Emmys, selected by ATAS’ Interactive Media Peer Group.
Program-specific enhanced or interactive-television nominees are the 2005 TV Land Awards all-access pass; Celebrity Blackjack Interactive by GSN, GoldPocket Interactive Inc. and Oceanic Time Warner Cable; DirecTV Sports Mix; One Tree Hill uDecide by The WB Television Network; and Who Wants to be a Millionaire by Valleycrest Productions Ltd.
Non-program-specific interactive-content nominees are America Online Inc.’s AOL Music on Demand by Zetools; The DirecTV Interactive Service; iO Interactive Optimum digital-cable service by Cablevision Systems Corp.; Reuters Interactive TV Channel; and Sesame Street Games by Sesame Workshop.
The ATAS awards will be presented during the nontelevised portion of the Emmy Awards, held Sept. 11. Unlike past years, when winners were given certificates, 2005 winners will receive Emmy statuettes.
