ICTV Tees Off With 'LuckyGolfer’

ICTV Inc., creator of HeadendWare, the interactive content-delivery platform, has sunk a deal to make Lucky- Golfer, the leading destination on the Internet for golf tournaments and contests offering prizes, trips and money awards, available to MSOs.

The agreement will make LuckyGolfer’s simulator accessible to cable operators domestically and abroad, affording them the chance to bring three-, nine- and 18-hole tournaments to subscribers via any digital set-top box, according to ICTV.

“The attraction of competition, particularly competition for real rewards, will be one of the drivers of interactive television adoption in the years ahead,” said ICTV vice president of business development Jonathan Symonds in a prepared statement. “Our ability to bring LuckyGolfer’s proven product to digital-cable subscribers will enable cable operators to provide a truly immersive interactive experience.”

The LuckyGolfer game has sold more than 500,000 copies and more than 10 million rounds of the golf game have been played. LuckyGolfer’s Web site (www.luckygolfer.com) receives more than 500,000 visits per month, according to company executives.

ICTV plans to demonstrate LuckyGolfer at the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing Summit, July 18 to 20 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, and will feature daily contests for attendees. Each day’s best scorer will receive a driver and the second best score each day will receive a putter.
