Arris announced Thursday (June 14) that Ian Whiting, the chief commercial officer of Ruckus Networks, has been named president of Arris’s Enterprise Networks unit, which includes Ruckus Networks.

Whiting, who reports to Arris CEO Bruce McClelland, will succeed Dan Rabinovitsj, who is  leaving to pursue a new opportunity in the technology arena, Arris said.

Whiting’s new role at Ruckus Networks takes effect on July 1, 2018.

Rabinovitsj, who joined Arris following the acquisition, is departing after the successful integration” of Ruckus Networks and will work with Whiting to ensure a smooth transition, the company said.

In his previous role at Ruckus, Whiting has been playing a leading role in vertical markets such as education, hospitality, MDUs, government, large public venues, retail and service providers.

Arris closed its acquisition of the Ruckus Wireless and ICX Switch business from Broadcom in December 2017.

The acquisition has been a positive one so far for Arris. Its new Enterprise business generated a higher than expected $170 million in Q1 2018.

The deal is also positioning Arris to become a big player in the emerging market for shared CBRS spectrum, which is expected to play a key role in the cable industry’s future mobile and wireless strategies.
