'Homeland' Moves Production To South Africa

Homeland will leave its home base of Charlotte, North Carolina as the series begins production on its fourth season. Showtime announced that the Emmy Award-winning series will begin shooting in Cape Town, South Africa this summer. Production will begin in mid-June and the series will shoot through November 2014.

Season Four finds Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) returning to a CIA station in the Middle East. Production was shifted to Cape Town in order to better portray that landscape.

“We’ve been so lucky to work with one of the best crews in the business for the last three seasons in Charlotte. We knew going into season four that we would need to move the production overseas to tell the story of Carrie returning to the Middle East as chief of station. We are thrilled to have found a new home in Cape Town and look forward to getting season four production off the ground,” said Homeland showrunner and executive producer Alex Gansa in a release.
