Hjelm to Oversee Excite@Home Network

Excite@Home Corp. Monday named Chris Hjelm executive vice president of
broadband-network services.

Hjelm, who will report directly to chairman and CEO Patti Hart, will be
responsible for the performance of Excite@Home's network, including network
engineering, operations and internal information systems.

Hjelm, 39, most recently was CEO and president of Sunnyvale, Calif.-based
Zoho Corp., a Web-based procurement vendor that streamlines shipping and banking
for the hospitality sector.

Before that, he spent 11 years at Federal Express Corp., most recently as
senior vice president and chief information officer for the company's
information-technology division.

Hjelm joins Excite@Home during a time when the company has been criticized
for a number of service outages and electronic-mail server problems in recent
months.

In February, Excite@Home hired AT&T Labs vice president of data and
Internet-network services Hossein Eslambolchi as its interim president of
broadband networks. Essentially on loan from AT&T Labs for about six months,
Eslambolchi was brought on board to help Excite@Home scale its broadband
network.

At the time, the company said it was in the process of building a
'carrier-grade' infrastructure that would be centralized at Excite@Home's
hometown of Redwood City, Calif.
