Hispanic Networks Set Upfront Dates

Hispanic TV networks kicked off the New Year by setting plans for their 2013-2014 upfront presentations, to take place in mid-May in New York.

Estrella TV will kick off the week, with an evening presentation on May 13 in a to-be-determined Manhattan location. Calling it an “upfront extravaganza,” Estrella TV chief operating officer Winter Horton says this will be the network’s “best and most exciting ever.”

Estrella TV held its first upfront ever in May 2011.

Univision Communications will follow on May 14 with a morning presentation at the New Amsterdam Theater in midtown Manhattan. It expects about 1,000 guests.

Telemundo follows its rival with a 6 p.m. event at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall [a past home for Univision’s upfront].

Fox Hispanic Media will take its turn May 15 at an undetermined Midtown location. At the luncheon, it will unveil porgramming for cable channels Fox Deportes, Utilísima and Nat Geo Mundo, as well as for broadcaster MundoFox, a joint venture between Fox International Channels and RCN of Colombia.

Cable outlets, including Discovery en Español and ESPN Deportes are expected to unveil upfront plans later this month.
