HBO's 'Leftovers' Opens with 1.8 Million Viewers

HBO's newest drama picked up a fair number of leftover viewers from lead-in True Blood on Sunday night.

The Leftovers, a series chronicling a world following the sudden disappearance of 2% of the population, drew 1.8 million viewers for its 10 p.m. premiere on June 29. For its part, the second installment of the final season of vampire series True Blood garnered 3.1 million viewers in its 9 p.m. bow.  With an encore at 11 p.m., The Leftovers added 300,000 watchers to open with 2.1 million on the night.

The debut delivery was less than the premieres for HBO's other new series this year :True Detective scored with 2.3 million in January, while comedy Silicon Valleypulled in just under 2 million for its April premiere.
