HBO Offers ‘Miracle’ On Demand
New York — Commemorating the silver anniversary of arguably the greatest upset in sports history, Home Box Office’s Emmy Award-winning documentary about the U.S. hockey team taking out the Soviet Union squad in the 1980 Winter Olympics soon will be available on HBO On Demand.
The HBO Sports effort Do You Believe in Miracles? The Story of the 1980 U. S. Hockey Team will be available on HBO On Demand for a one-month period, facing off Feb. 21.
The following day marks the 25th anniversary of the U.S. team’s improbable 4-3 victory over the Soviet Union at the Winter Games from Lake Placid, N.Y.
Two days later, the U.S. team defeated Finland to capture the gold medal.
The documentary, which originally aired in 2001, won the Sports Emmy in the category of outstanding sports documentary, for tracking the team from its beginnings as a group of college rivals, through its inspiring victory over the Soviets, to its gold-medal triumph.
