HBO will premiere exclusive documentary The Journalist and the Jihadi: The Murder of Daniel Pearl Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. (EST/PST).
The 90-minute documentary -- debuting on what would have been Pearl’s 43rd birthday -- tracks the parallel lives of Pearl, “a humanist who became an accomplished journalist and spent most of his career reporting from the Muslim world as part of a quest to promote cross-cultural understanding,” and Omar Sheikh, who “was radicalized by events he regarded as the global persecution of Muslims and became an Islamic militant who chose a deeply violent method to achieve what he believed in,” HBO said in a prepared statement.
The Journalist and the Jihadi was narrated by journalist Christiane Amanpour.
