Harmonic senior vice president of worldwide sales Mark Carrington is resigning after two years in the role, the video-delivery infrastructure vendor announced Friday.
Harmonic has initiated a formal search for an executive to replace Carrington, who will assist the company in a transitional period. For now the sales division will report directly to Harmonic president and CEO Patrick Harshman.
"We thank Mark for his years of service to the company during which time we significantly expanded our customer base worldwide, particularly in broadcast and media. We wish him the best in his future endeavors," Harshman said in a statement.
Carrington was named head of worldwide sales in 2011. In November 2010, Harmonic promoted Carrington, previously vice president of service and support, to take over for vice president of sales Matt Aden who left the company "for personal reasons."
Previously Carrington had been a sales executive with C-Cube Microsystems’ DiviCom, acquired for $1.7 billion by Harmonic in 2000, after which he assumed responsibility for the consolidated field operations division. Before rejoining Harmonic in 2009, he worked as a consultant. He started his career at IBM.
Harshman added that Carrington’s departure "does not impact” the company’s previously announced financial guidance issued on its quarterly earnings call on Oct. 23, 2012. Harmonic said it expected net revenue in the range of $132 million to $142 million for the fourth quarter of 2012, with gross margins and operating expenses for the period expected to be in the range of 44% to 46% and $60 million to $61.5 million, respectively.
