A week after announcing an integration deal with Internet Photonics, Concurrent Computer Corp. announced it's completed integration work with Harmonic Inc., blending its MediaHawk Video Server with Harmonic's Narrowcast
Services Gateway. Concurrent said the integration allows MSOs to use conditional access systems, including currently deployed proprietary systems, to transport video streams using Gigabit Ethernet technology.
Many MSOs deploying VOD are installing Gigabit Ethernet technology, which
offers better scalability to deliver more videostreams to more consumers than traditional cable plant.
Harmonic's NSG provides quadrature amplitude modulation and upconversion between the digital and analog portions of the cable system. The NSG also can serve as a scrambling and multiplexing engine with ASI and Gigabit Ethernet
