‘Happy Days’ Creator Garry Marshall Dies at 81

TV and film writer, producer and director Garry Marshall died Tuesday (July 19) at the age of 81.

Marshall’s work in television included creating and producing the original The Odd Couple (1970-75), Happy Days (1974-84), Laverne & Shirley (1976-83) -- starring sister Penny Marshall -- and Mork & Mindy (1978-82), which introduced audiences to late comedian Robin Williams.

Most recently in TV, Marshall served as an executive consultant on CBS's reboot of The Odd Couple, in which he also played Oscar Madison’s father.

Marshall directed several films as well, including Pretty Woman, Beaches, Runaway Bride and The Princess Diaries.
