Fox Sports Kicks Off Programming Pacts with TCU, Texas Tech

A day after publicizing a programming deal with the University of Oklahoma, Fox Sports announced that it has reached multiyear rights agreements for Texas Tech and TCU athletic teams.

The agreement with TCU features a comprehensive schedule of athletics events to be televised annually, including one Horned Frog football game, all available men’s hoops contests, women's basketball action and agreed upon number of Olympic sports, including volleyball and soccer.

The TCU deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, began with the Horned Frogs’ Sept. 8 home opener against Grambling State that was televised on Fox Sports Southwest. TCU football games will be produced by Fox Sports, while other Horned Frog athletic airings will be produced by the school in collaboration with the programmer.

Fox Sports Southwest, which reaches approximately 9 million homes, will serve as the flagship network for TCU Athletics with distribution throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. Select TCU events will be televised on other Fox Sports regional and national networks and digital platforms.

Earlier in the day, Learfield Sports announced that it had reached a multiyear rights agreement for Texas Tech University's athletic teams with Fox.

Under the contract, financial terms of which were not disclosed, one Red Raider football game will be televised annually on a Fox Sports Networks platform -- Fox Sports Southwest, Fox Sports Southwest Plus or Fox College Sports. Fox Sports’ deal with Learfield Sports, the university’s multimedia rights-holder includes also encompasses available men's basketball games and content from up to 20 Olympic sports. Fox Sports and Texas Tech will also select additional non-game programming such as magazine shows Red Raider Weekly and Raider Power, which are slated to air on Fox Sports Southwest and Fox College Sports, respectively.

The agreement officially kicked off Sept. 1 with coverage of Texas Tech’s football game against Northwestern State.

The Texas Tech pact still allows university to maintain its streaming rights on its website for any event not selected for distribution by Fox Sports.

Fox Sports and Learfield Sports on Wednesday announced a much more expansive programming deal with the University of Oklahoma, a pact that saw Lee Berke, president and CEO of LHB Sports, Entertainment and Media serve in an advisory capacity. Berke was also involved with the TCU deal. Neal Pilson, principle of Pilson Communications, also worked on the Oklahoma agreement.

Fox Sports will distribute "Sooner Sports TV Powered by Fox Sports" -- a multiplatform network featuring over 1,000 hours of programming dedicated to the University's athletic teams -- to roughly 9 million homes in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. Certain programming will be made available nationally through Fox College Sports.
