Former SCTE Chief Clark Named CEO Of Networking Trade Group
John Clark, who departed as president and CEO of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers in July, has been recruited to be executive director and chief executive for BICSI, a trade association for network cabling installation professionals.
“I’ve been well aware for several years of the great work being done by BICSI,” Clark said, in a statement. “Career-wise I have two loves—telecommunications and association management. The BICSI executive director/CEO opportunity allows me to blend these two on a global stage.”
The announcement comes a week before BICSI’s 2008 fall conference, set for Sept. 29-Oct. 2 in Las Vegas.
Clark replaces former BICSI executive director David Cranmer, who resigned in April for “personal reasons,” the group said.
Tampa, Fla.-based BICSI (pronounced "BICK-see") has more than 25,000 members, who include network designers, installers and technicians for telecommunications, audio/video, life safety and automation systems. The organization provides courses, conferences, publications and professional-registration programs.
SCTE, the leading group for cable technology professionals, is currently searching for a CEO to replace Clark.
Before Clark joined SCTE in 1998, he was executive vice president for the Tele-TV programming joint venture of Bell Atlantic, Nynex and Pacific Telesis Group, and held senior positions at Crown Media Holdings and cable operator Cencom Cable Associates. He holds an MBA from the University of Maryland.
