FNC Tops CNN in Ratings First

Fox News Channel said it beat Cable News Network in ratings Friday for the
first time since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

On systems where both FNC and CNN are available, FNC generated a 2.0 Nielsen
Media Research rating in primetime and 1.5 million households, compared with a
1.5 rating and 1.1 million households for CNN.

In the total-day category, FNC posted a 1.1 rating and 820,000 households,
versus CNN's 1.0 rating and 744,000 households.

Counting all households, including systems where only CNN is available, FNC
and CNN tied in the total-day category with a 1.1 rating. CNN, which counts more
subscribers, pulled 945,000 households compared with 820,000 for FNC.

In primetime, CNN generated a 1.6 rating and 1.4 million
households.
