FiOS TV Announces Franchises, Launches

The Town Board of Clarkstown, N.Y., voted unanimously Tuesday night to grant a video franchise to Verizon Communications for its Verizon FiOS TV service.

The Rockland County town’s approval brings the regional Bell operating company’s total number of franchises in New York to 12, including five in Rockland County.

The franchise covers Clarkstown's unincorporated hamlets of New City, Congers, Valley Cottage, Bardonia, Nanuet, West Nyack, Central Nyack and Rockland Lake.

Verizon already offers FiOS TV in the Rockland County villages of Nyack, South Nyack and Upper Nyack, as well as the Long Island communities of Massapequa Park, the Town of Hempstead and the Town of Oyster Bay.

The telco said it will launch service later this year in Clarkstown, as well as in the Long Island villages of Cedarhurst, Laurel Hollow, Lynbrook and Mineola and the Rockland County community of Grandview-on-Hudson, all of which have approved cable franchises.

Verizon also began offering FiOS TV in Anne Arundel County, Md., and to approximately 30,000 households in Manatee County, Fla., including the city of Bradenton.

In Anne Arundel County, the RBOC is taking orders in Arden on the Severn, Arnold, Arundel Beach, Beverly Beach, Cape Arthur, Cape St. John, Chartwell, Chesapeake Oaks, Crofton, Crofton Meadows, Crofton Park, Crownsville, Davidsonville, Elmhurst, Epping Forest, Glen Burnie, Glen Burnie Heights, Herald Harbor, Heritage Harbor, Iglehart, Indian Landing, Londontowne, Magothy, Mago Vista Beach, Millersville, Old Mill, Palisades on the Severn, Parole, Reidel Estates, Riva, Riva Farms, Rolling Knolls, Saddle Ridge, Selby on the Bay, Severn, Sherwood Forest, Shipley's Choice, Shoreham Beach, South River Colony, South River Heights, St. Margarets, Sunrise Beach, Tidewater Colony, Triton Beach, Walden, Wilelinor Estates and Woodland Beach.

Verizon added 22,000 homes that can receive FiOS TV in Manatee County.
