From FCC to CATA to NCTA to PR

Jim Ewalt has joined Carlson & Co. Public Relations as senior counselor.

Ewalt had been vice president of public affairs for the National Cable & Telecommunications Association. Prior to that, he spent 15 years as executive VP of the Cable Telecommunications Association (CATA), which merged with the NCTA in 2000. He was also astaff member at the Federal Communications Commission.

Denver-based Carlson specializes in strategic business development in the cable and telecommunications industries.

“Jim has spent more than 25 years counseling cable operators on a wide range of business and technology issues,” Carlson co-principal Jim Carlson said in a prepared statement.

“His knowledge of, and contacts in, the cable and telecommunications industries are vast, and his experience on the public-policy side of the business has given him an insider’s view of the industry,” he added. “He is one of cable’s most respected individuals, and he will be a huge asset to our clients and agency.”
