IN Expands By Adding TWIN

LOS ALTOS, CALIF. - Interactive Network
will buy the 50-percent stake of TWIN Entertainment
it doesn't own from TwoWay TV
. The consolidation in the gaming space will allow Interactive Network to combine its gaming, enhanced TV and interactive-advertising patents with TwoWay TV's technology.

Bruce Bauer, IN's chief executive officer, said the company intends to protect its patents. "This will modify our patent strategy to pursue enforcement of our patents rather than seeking to openly license our technology," Bauer said in a statement. "We're making a statement today: 'If you want to have viewers play along competitively with TV programming, or insert interactive ads into games, then you are going to have to go through us.'"
