Ex-MSO Executive Heads Fiber Start-Up

Rochester, N.Y.-Frank Chiano, former president and CEO of Time Warner Cable's operations here, has launched Fiber Technologies LLC, which plans to build "dark" fiber optic communications networks in second- and third-tier markets in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions.

Chiano will be chief operating officer of Fiber Technologies, and former Frontier Corp. executive John Purcell will be CEO.

Fiber Technologies closed on a $30 million equity-investment package led by Fleet Equity Partners last week.
